One year ago today, this sweet angelβs life was claimed by suicide because people thought it would be okay to bully her. She was 11 years old.
I had the pleasure of knowing her for 8 years of her life. We were very close, and she was one of my closest friends. She loved animals and drawing and nature.
First of all, bullying isnβt a one-time thing. Itβs not something that should be brushed aside. Itβs not like dropping something and picking it up. Itβs like dropping a vase and it shatters into a million pieces. Itβs chronic, and thereβs no fixing the scars that are left on the heart of the victim.
Bullying isnβt okay. Itβs not funny. Itβs not cute. People need to be held accountable for their actions and words and know that what theyβre saying isnβt okay. They need to know that it will leave scars on someone their entire life. Theyβll never be the same.
I know this because I was bullied and I tried to take my own life as well. Iβm so glad it didnβt work. But this beautiful soul was captured by the claws of depression and despair all because of the things people were saying about her.
In loving memory of Brooklyn Faye Cook.
